Entry 01
Saturday Morning Coffee
There is something about Saturday mornings.
The world feels softer before it remembers all the things it has to become.
Coffee is still hot.
The house is quiet.
No meetings.
No alarms.
No one asking for anything yet.
Just a cup, a little light through the window, and a few minutes where life feels honest.
For a long time, I thought peace would arrive as something dramatic.
A victory.
A relationship.
A finished book.
A number in a bank account.
A version of myself I could finally respect.
But lately, I have started to think peace is smaller than that.
Maybe peace is coffee before the day begins.
Maybe it is a quiet room.
Maybe it is realizing that nothing needs to be proven before noon.
There were seasons when Saturday mornings felt like adventure.
Roads.
Mountains.
Hash browns.
Long conversations.
The kind of laughter that makes ordinary hours feel like they belong in a movie.
I still remember those mornings.
I probably always will.
But I no longer think the beauty of a morning belongs only to the person who shared it with me.
Some things were given.
Some things were lost.
Some things became mine again.
That is part of growing up, I think.
Learning that a memory can remain beautiful without becoming a place you keep trying to return to.
So now I make the coffee.
I open the window.
I sit with the life I have.
Not the one I imagined.
Not the one I lost.
This one.
The one still asking to be lived.
And for a few quiet minutes, before the world gets loud again, I remember something important.
I am still here.
The coffee is ready.
Welcome home.
